Legacy benefits (ESA) was created by Kaylee
Hello, I am in receipt of ESA legacy benefits. I have been hoping to be migrated over to UC but not sure when this is going to happen. I need to consider applying for UC as I have a child who I am not claiming any child tax credits for. If I apply for UC will it be considered that I was on ESA and in the support group. It is very confusing as I am not familiar at all with UC. The whole idea of moving over to UC is very daunting, at the same time I know I need to as I am losing out on child tax credits. Any advice on this would be much appreciated.

Hi Kayla

If you are in receipt of ESA and in the support group when you apply for UC then you should be placed in the LCWRA group providing your ESA claim has not stopped.

I would advise you to get clarification from your local Welfare Rights Organisation before you apply for UC, once you apply for UC there is no going back; advicelocal.uk
