Pip telephone review was created by debtwell
I had my Pip review telephone call booked for 9am on the 13 th June! I received a call at 9.05 to say the health professional was not available so rebooked for today the 27th June again at 9am! The same happened again today so its been rebooked for the 4th July again at 9am but with a different person!
This is so early for me but I don't want to cause problems so will just accept it! This has caused me so much anxiety and I am wondering if this is a common occurrence! and whether they do this to make the process difficult for people!
My award ends in August and my mobility car is due to be renewed too so this is another cause of anxiety for me!
Also do you ask at the time to have the assessment recorded and can you make your own recording? I have read that some people have had discrepancies with what they have said to assessor!
Thanks Deb

Hi debtwell
I'm afraid assessment appointments do get cancelled sometimes, but I don't think it's a deliberate ploy by the assessment services. Assessors will fall ill or have emergencies, just like any other organisation. It's unfortunate that it has happened to you twice. Assessments are scheduled for all times of the day - so again, you have been unlucky to have 9 am if it's a difficult time of day for you. I know one member last week reported having hers at 8 am.
If you want your assessment recorded, you should let the assessment service know beforehand. Be warned not all assessors agree to be recorded, and it may lead them to them changing the appointment again. We always advise that people make their own covert recording so that they can refer to it later if necessary.

Hi
Thanks for your reply to my query! Just an update I had my third date set for today and once again another call to say there was no health professional available! The person I spoke to was very apologetic and I must say I was quite tearful! when I spoke to her The build up to these calls is so stressful and to happen three times is so upsetting!
The next appointment is set for the 19th July and at least its in the afternoon this time if it does go ahead that is!
Has this happened to anyone else?
Regards
Deb

Hi debtwell
I am so sorry that it has happened to you again. I'm not surprised you were tearful. I'd have wept buckets. I really hope that it goes ahead this time. If it doesn't, you might want to think about putting in an official complaint. At least the time is better for you. Good luck.

Hi Just an update I finally had my PIP review telephone call today ( after being cancelled and rearranged three times). It was supposed to be at 1.30pm but they called at 11.15am asking if they could do it at midday!
I must say it was very stressful and upsetting with all the questions asked and how they expect you to remember specific dates and times! I do get very upset when talking about all my health conditions and how my life has changed. However She did ask me if I needed a minute when I was tearful!
Im just glad its over and must say I would have preferred a face to face as trying to explain over the phone is so difficult! I feel that they could have seen how I am rather than me having to justify how all my conditions affect me!
My only concern now is that my due to all the cancellations my extended pip renewal date is the 7th August and I'm worried I will lose my pip which includes my car if I don't get a decision in time! I will call for PA4 on Friday to see what they say! Fingers crossed!
Thanks for all your help its been gratefully received!

Hi debtwell
I'm so pleased to hear that the assessment went ahead - even though the time was altered. I really hope that you get the outcome you're seeking.
