hi gordon i have just read my medical report .It states i meet Limited capabiity for work related activity as i have sever function disability. But the prognosis is that work can be considered within 18 months.

They suggest i have limited capability for work as i can not mobilse 50 metres repeatedly within reasonable timescale and unaided by another person due to signicant discomfort or exhaustion due to COPD. The report says although the 113 from the Gp has not commented on function, the letter from the specialist states that the client is on maximal trippe inhaled therapy and currently awaiting pulmonary rehabilitation.

The evidence considered med 3 113 consultant letter and reports going back to 2005.Plus questionaire and letter from me.Although the consultant letter states i can only manage 20 -50 metres on the flat. Most of the time i only manage up to 20 metres.I can not remember the last time i could manage 50 metres. And the evidence shows unlikly improve with pulmonary rehabilitation.Therfore how can i be reconsidered for work in 18 months? The evidence is weak from my GP. There is no mention about my problems with strangers due to anixity and depression .Although it is mention in the letter from my consultant as the reason i have not gone to pulmonary rehabilitation. As i get panic attacks and makes my breathing much worse and harder to deal with.

Can you give me advise about what to do? as i want to apply for pips. Would i need to send of for more evidence mentioned in med report.Or would a letter from GP help fill in the gaps. Thxs

I'm afraid it may not be that simple, although there can seem to many areas of overlap between ESA and PIP the reality is that in most case the criteria are actually different, for example; ESA considers your ability to walk and to self-propel a manual wheelchair with a minimum distance of 50m for the highest award, PIP on the other hand is a purely walking test with a minimum of 20m for an Enhances award.

If you are looking for a PIP Mobility award you will need additional evidence to bridge the gap.

I would start by having a look at our PIP Claim guide to see what criteria you will need to meet, you will need evidence to show that you do.
