bro58 - that's really interesting you say we shouldn't be expected to travel more than 90 minutes. My nearest assessment centre is 2 hours away and the lady at the CAB told me I'd have to go in.

I think I need to pass this site on to my local CAB today as it seems they're not quite as up on the facts as they could be.

Hi just read this and wanted to add Atos can be good with PIP assessments. Well they were at my last one two years ago, being reassessed now so will see. Last time, they did a home visit, arrived on time, didn't have to ask for the home visit, and wrote a clear and supportive report.

Playing on my mind that the HP didn't tell the whole truth!! This is me being really lazy now with not researching but can anybody advise me please.... can I ask for a Mandatory Reconsideration (before going to appeal) without the threat of losing what I have already been awarded? Can the decision be looked at again with no fear of losing what I have been awarded?

Any response gratefully received x

Hi D66,

If you request an MR you risk them changing your current awards, for better or worse !!

If you complain about The Medical Report, you risk it being discredited which could mean a fresh assessment and further risk to your current awards.

Hardly any of these Medical Reports are accurate, when your next re-assessment comes around, you can simply restate how it "actually" is at that time.

It is of course your choice to make.

hello I'm really pleased for you that you got a result although maybe it could have been a bit better : ie higher rate but at least you can relax a little now and hopefully feel a little better. May I ask you whether you had a home visit or went to a centre ?
