I am pleased to say after 13 months and a lot of reading up and paperwork my son finally got standard rate PIP for daily living activity. We were told by CAB all my paperwork was brilliant and my son should have received enhanced in both sections but DWP refused to listen and awarded him nothing.
The Tribunal was scary and I got annoyed because they kept asking what my son could do now rather than when the decision was made. He has a stoma and severe anaemia and proctitis but since he had 2 iron infusions he had improved and put a stone on in weight. This was 3 months after the decision date and he is likely to go back downhill again as he cannot absorb iron.
Anyway we came away feeling we had done all we could and told the truth but had not been listened to so would fail to get anything. The decision was being sent in the post as they ran out of time and needed to see next claimant. The letter arrived today and we were both surprised and overjoyed that he had been awarded something.
Thank you to Benefits at Work as I read all the guides and used their examples to contest the claim and help with the Tribunal. I will continue to use the site for advice and recommend it to anyone claiming benefits.
