Main health condition: Both physical and mental health |
Main conditions that affect daily living: Dysautonomia, Chronic fatigue syndrome, hashimoto's disease, anxiety and feeling overwhelmed and emotional as a result of the autonomic dysfunction. |
Rate of PIP daily living component: Standard |
4 point descriptor score: No |
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: Not likely based on how hard I fought for PIP |
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: Sustaining activities that involve moving (both causing high heart rate and post exertion malaise), the high heart rate also causes am increase on my constant fatigue. Things like stress (even positive like getting excited) can trigger my body to overreact making me feel emotional and overwhelmed even when none of my thoughts lead there. Mental exertion like concentrating on something too long brings on tiredness and fatigue. Being around people and conversations brings on tiredness and fatigue. Any of this can trigger post exertion malaise and last hours or days... on a few occasions weeks and months. |
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: PIP is my only income. My husnand works but we also get a universal credit top up of sorts. My PIP means I can get some od the medical care the NHS refuses to give me like seeing a cardiologist and endocrinologist, paying for liothyronine, and the blood tests I need to monitor my thyroid levels that the nhs thinks is adequate but I am still ill. How would I pay to see the endocrinologist, pay for the medication and run the blood tests the nhs won't do? |
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: In December 2024 I had to resign from work as I was unable to recover since falling ill with dysautonomia. I can no longer tolerate work without it affecting my heart and body for a few days after. I am still devastated I had to leave my job as it was my passion. A job coach can't cure my chronic fatigue, post exertion malaise or effects of dysautonomia. The experience, which I had before getting lwca made my symptoms worse because it caused me stress. I can't even do my housework beyond 10 minutes never mind travel to and from work and do work. |
Anything else to tell us: I feel the PIP system completely doesn't understand any conditions that vary from hour to hour and day to day. They assume if you can do something once you can always do it... even if you can't do that thing again until the next day, next week or next couple weeks. There is no allowance for yes I can walk 500 meters but once I get home I won't do anything else. |
