Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: My physical disabily is a fluctuating one. I struggle with severe fatigue, I'm prone to injuries and I need assistance with most things. I get heart rate spikes which leave me unable to sit upright let alone get out of bed, I suffer with widespread joint and nerve pain. I need help with most things, dressing, makinf meals, shopping, housework ectr i need supervision when showering, i can wash my bidy myelf but i cannot be left alone as im a fall risk. I cannot drive. |
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: £300. It would cause me to be unable to pay for my shopping to be delivered, unable to afford the pre-made meals I surive on. I would be unable to afford taxis to my medical appointments. I need to buy aids and other treatments such as supplements and hydration tabelts that are unavailable on the NHS myself, I would not be able to afford these anymore as they are expensive. It would cause me distress and worsen my mental health. |
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: When I did work I was going to work part time, I would come home and sleep then go back to work. I lost alot of weight as I didn't have the energy to cook when I got home and my house was a mess. It got to the point I was taking time off constantly for injuries and missing work due to the fatigue and pain and constant appointments. I had to leave. I would be unable to work even from home, I can't keep my self upright never mind speak. I don't think the government understands just how much fatigue and pain can effect people. Fatigue isn't just being a bit tired or sleepy. You are physical ly unable to speak, the sleep is not restorative, it's a horrible experience knowing you are drifting off but trying to fight to stay alert. |
Anything else to tell us: I think the current pip process is horrendous, it's already not fit for purpose. I think everyone understands why work is good, it's good for your mental health and helps you feel involved in the community. Unfortunately for many people with disabilities these changes will force them OUT of work not push them into it. The government will just be pushing disabled people deeper into poverty. We didn't ask to be disabled. My disabilities have stolen my life and I greive for the things I have lost and the future I can't have. I'd love to work, have kids, my own home, drive a car, beable to have a community and hobbies ectr but I can't, I'm in chronic pain, everyday is a struggle, it's frustrating to live in a sick body. I'd like the government to consider the profund impact these changes will have on people who are just trying to survive. We don't live in luxury, we live in poverty already. These changes could kill people. |
