Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: I have had to reduce activity to the degree that I can no longer work. I struggle to shower more than once a week and generally get help from my partner. We have/are adapting the house to make it more accessible. I struggle with stairs, walking distance, standing for long time. I have cognitive issues so following instructions is difficult. I struggle to make/receive phone calls and the accommodation request for my GP for email is "too onerous" for them. I use a satnav for driving assistance. I am selling my car as I rarely use it and it is too expensive. My partners car is automatic, plus raised wheelbase which makes it easier to get in and out of. Most days I stay at home as I have no confidence in my ability to regulate energy levels to maintain some semblance of independence and life. I am eloquent in written form but struggle to communicate in person |
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: I will lose all income. My partner earns too much for me to claim UC and is already paying all bills/housing etc. Currently I have some savings but that is being used on adaptations. |
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: I may be able to manage an hour or so every few days. But this is variable. I would also need extra time to remember new information/processes. There is no employer who would be able to accommodate those needs, regardless of having a work coach or not. |
Anything else to tell us: This is very badly thought through and the government have failed to learn from austerity that taking away benefits will only make the costs hit somewhere else such as local councils or NHS services. |
