Nickname: Home alone |
Age: 50-60 |
Main health condition: Both physical and mental health |
Main conditions that affect daily living: Fibromyalgia. CFS. Osteoarthritis. SI joint deterioration. Depression. |
Rate of PIP daily living component: Standard |
4 point descriptor score: No |
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: Very unlikely with the way they don't score properly |
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: Preparing food. Washing & bathing. Mobility. Cutting food. Motivation to eat. Pretty much all aspects of daily life but not enough to score 4 points in any category |
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: Between PIP and Universal Credit, I'd lose around £400 - £500 per month. I couldn't afford to eat properly or pay my bills if Universal Credit is cut, and couldn't afford additional aids/appliances/therapy if PIP was cut. I really don't know what I'd do, but my mental health would become much much worse, and I don't know if I'd keep try to fight any more. |
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: There are no jobs flexible enough to allow me to rest as I need to. Employers already take too long to provide workplace adjustments. I have tried part time work after I left my full-time job, and couldn't even cope working 12 hours per week. DWP, work coaches and the government really do not understand the difficulties we face when we have conditions that become unbearably painful and fatiguing try to do something as simple as making a bed. |
Anything else to tell us: By making it harder to get PIP and aligning it as a passport benefit to entitle claimants to the proposed Universal Credit Health element, I will become increasingly unable to afford to live. I have already reduced my outgoings as much as possible and am left with around £20 per month for emergencies or transport for appointments. Living on the bare minimum is soul destroying as it is. To force me and thousands of others into further poverty is barbaric and blatant discrimination towards those with long-term disabilities and progressive conditions. I would never vote Labour again.... |
