Nickname: Al |
Age: 57 |
Main health condition: Both physical and mental health |
Main conditions that affect daily living: Hypophosphatasia and long covid |
Rate of PIP daily living component: Standard |
4 point descriptor score: No |
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: I'm currently contesting the decision but I suspect they will make it even harder to get 4 poi ts |
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: I struggle with every aspect of daily living, washing and dressing, preparing food, mobilising and socialising |
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: I will lose 80% of my income if the esa limited capability is also taken away Otherwise, I'll lose 50% if it's my standard dl I will not have enough money to pay household bills, once my savings deplete, which means I'll have to go onto UC and only that will be £50 , so again, a loss. I currently top up my living with my savings anyway, . I'm changing my car to an automatic and need to buy a wheelchair, which is thousands of pounds. I have been paying for therapies to try to improve my mental health. I want to live, not barely survive. These cuts will render my life so stressful because of financial pressure and I cannot deal with a house move. I am living alone. I feel suicidal and will be more likely to carry it through under these pressures. |
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: I can't look after myself, I have cognitive issues, voice and hearing problems and chronic fatigue. My HPP means I will deteriorate and there's no treatment or cure for it. It would be a total waste of money and time . I have letters from my GP and consultant to say I will never be capable of working ever again. |
Anything else to tell us: I think ti's is criminal. It is cruel and badly planned. The demonising of disabled people is shocking. As a society, we should hang our heads in shame. Politicians who do not support the disabled should be shamed. A 0.5% wealth tax would be simple to execute and painless for all. |
