Nickname: TBird
Age: 55
Main health condition: Both physical and mental health
Main conditions that affect daily living: hypermobile spectrum disorder
chronic pain
autism
(also dyslexia, depression and anxiety)
Rate of PIP daily living component: Standard
4 point descriptor score: No
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: not a hope
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: Physically - cooking, washing hair (have shaved it all off), general household stuff, sleeping
Due to sensory issues - showering, lots of food textures
Due to executive function issues - remembering to eat, shower and take medications
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: all my PIP care element, plus that of my daughter who has similar issues to me
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: there are no jobs locally that I can do! pretty much all the advertised jobs in this area are for care work, considering I can't look after myself properly, I can't see me doing well doing that! I can't do office work as I have dyslexia, which makes the whole typing thing a bit entertaining, I can't do noisy places thanks to sensory glitches, I can't do a physical job due to HSD. Also, I can't see many employers being happy with my sick record, which got me sacked from my previous job
Anything else to tell us: it's not about work though is it? It's about taking away independence from a great many people. My PIP pays a cleaner to come in once a week and just do the basics so that I have the energy to do other things. It pays for meal shakes for days when I can't comfortably eat solid food and for days when I've forgotten to eat until I hit the point of being hangry and can't think, and if I worked, I'd need those shakes more often. It pays for the extra electricity for the through floor lift so I can get upstairs to bed safely. It pays for fuel for my car so I can get to appointments. It pays for wheelchair maintenance. It pays for prescriptions and oh so many over the counter meds and supplements.
