Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: I hope not, because it would mean that I am no longer capable of being independent. |
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: Fatigue, dressing, washing, excreting, cooking, eating, walking. My hands are worst affected, making everything difficult but I’m still at the point that I can use aids to mitigate it and manage independently for most things. I will likely get worse with time but I’m currently in a stable place where I am not happy, but surviving okay. My meds cause side effects that make my life harder. My diabetes meds cause crazy constipation and recurring thrush (affecting my sexlife). My arthritis meds cause nausea and headaches. I’m immune suppressed, so I don’t leave the house much and have to mask when I do. I can’t meet up with people without Covid testing, masks and air filtration. I cook simple meals using adapted knives and jar openers. I have grab rails in my bathroom. I wear clothes with elastic waist bands and struggle to put on socks and shoes. I’ve given up wearing underwear because it’s too hard to put on. I use a cane to walk around the supermarket. I drag myself up the stairs thanks to a sturdy rail. I get tired easily, so I break tasks up into 10 minute blocks and then rest for 30 mins to hour after each one. I have adapted my computer and devices to show huge text, and I use an upright mouse. |
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: About £300 a month. |
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: I can’t use my hands for more than 15 minutes without resting for an hour at least afterwards.. My eyes have deteriorated so I need large text or I struggle to read. I’m immunosuppressed so I would need protection from catching Covid and other illnesses. I need to lie down often. My career went off the rails 10 years ago. I can’t use a computer for long. I can’t drive far. I can’t use public transport. I can’t stand for long periods. I can’t carry things because I will drop them. How do I work? Precisely who would put up with all this? I tried to run my own business at one point, but even I couldn’t work with my restrictions. |
