Nickname: Randy Andy-not, anymore! |
Age: 55-65 |
Main health condition: Both physical and mental health |
Main conditions that affect daily living: Osteoarthritis in both knees, hands and lower back; Type 1 Diabetes; Depression; Grade 4 Sacral Pressure Ulcer, requiring DAILY visits to my GP practice; |
Rate of PIP daily living component: Standard |
4 point descriptor score: No |
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: Very unlikely |
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: Dressing, particularly lower half. Need help to get off the toilet. We no longer have a bath but, when we did, I couldn't get in or out without assistance - showering was/is a nightmare. Standing, and also sitting, for long periods without regular movement is hellish. Ascending/Descending stairs. |
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: If I lose my PIP Daily Living component I would be short £290 every 4 weeks. I dread to think what this might mean to me - hence the depression!! |
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: IF you can find an employer that allows me time off, EVERY DAY, to get my wound redressed, allows me to just get up and move around WHENEVER required, is happy for me to fall asleep every afternoon for a couple of hours, is happy for me to be late most mornings then PLEASE introduce them to me. I live in the REAL world, so this is highly improbable. |
Anything else to tell us: I've worked since I was 17, but due to ill health my GP signed me off early 2000's from a job I absolutely loved - I was gutted. I've tried part time, volunteer work but neither were appropriate. My life is currently within these four walls, and I'm happy with that. Thankfully I have a very loving, caring and supportive wife and family. |
