Main health condition: Mental health |
Main conditions that affect daily living: Intermittent Explosive Disorder, ADHD, and emotional dysregulation linked to childhood trauma. |
Rate of PIP daily living component: Standard |
4 point descriptor score: No |
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: Very unlikely. My difficulties don’t fit neatly into the descriptors, even though they cause serious problems day-to-day. |
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: I can dress and wash myself, but I struggle to prepare meals without getting overwhelmed or distracted. I forget to eat or take medication unless reminded. If I feel challenged or stressed, I can snap and become aggressive. I don’t trust myself around people for long periods. |
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: I’d lose everything over £300 a month I think. That money pays for basic things like help with shopping, structure, and transport. Without it, I won’t be able to attend appointments or avoid situations that trigger me. I’m already isolated this would push me over the edge and put others at risk. |
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: I don’t work because I’ve been dismissed before for shouting and threatening people during meltdowns. A work coach won’t stop that from happening. I mask for a bit, then explode. Putting me in a workplace is dangerous for me and for others. I have been told this before by previous employers social services and the police I’ve begged for support instead of being pushed into jobs. |
Anything else to tell us: Just because I can physically do things like cook or walk doesn’t mean I’m safe to work or live without support. My condition means I lash out when overstimulated or challenged. If the government takes away PIP, I’ll be left without supervision or help. That won’t lead to independence it’ll lead to violence, sectioning, or prison. |
