Nickname: contrary mary |
Age: 55-60 |
Main health condition: Both physical and mental health |
Main conditions that affect daily living: arthritis fibromyalgia depression |
Rate of PIP daily living component: Standard |
4 point descriptor score: No |
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: highly unlikely |
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: chronic pain all day especially from lumbar spinal arthritis means i am unable to prepare a,meal however because i have a perching stool i only got 2 points. again pain from both arthritis in several joints and widespread muscle pain from fibromyalgia i have problems with most aspects of daily life, most days i have to lay on my side just to ease the pain in my spine. even though i am on high dose antidepressants i apparently do not show signs of depression. |
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: i will lose my daily living award as i can not get 4 points for the descriptors they are all 2 points, i will also lose my esa contribution based that i had assumed because i worked up until 5 years ago and paid my stamps i would be able to keep. this will have such an negative impact on my household as my husband works so we could not get UC, the money i have at present from PIP and ESA helps me to get help with the daily things i can not do and helps me to pay someone to do personal care for me plus all the extra things i need. |
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: i could not return to work because of the chronic pain alone for which i am prescribed morphine, there are days when i am in so much pain from arthritis and fibromyalgia i am unable to get out of bed, the fatigue alone from fibro is really difficult to live with on a daily basis, so no i dont think any amount of support from a work coach will help me in any way to gain employment. |
Anything else to tell us: i am like everyone else just so concerned what i am going to do, i think my husband will have terminate his employment just to do the things for me that i at present pay someone to do, there is no social care for the impacts this is going to have on the majority of people who will need assistance, i also live in a rural location and that will also impact on any services that they may decide we may avail of, however i really do not think they have considered the amount of people who will need help with daily living tasks |
