Nickname: Jam gal
Age: 57
Main health condition: Both physical and mental health
Main conditions that affect daily living: ME
CPTSD
Generalised anxiety disorder
Panic disorder
SAD
ADHD
Rate of PIP daily living component: Enhanced
4 point descriptor score: No
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: If assessment done properly then possibly, but also unlikely as in my experience the scoring isn’t a true reflection of actual needs.
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: All executive functioning tasks.
Going out.
Washing/ dressing
Feeding myself / preparing meals
Managing money
Managing therapy
Loads more that I can’t think of at present… I have constant brain fog, dizziness and exhaustion so not easy to think what I need to write on this section without support.
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: I currently receive just over 600 pounds a month and if I lose the daily living this will be about 460 pounds less a month. I live alone so no one else to help me
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: The varying degrees of my symptoms, ranging from moderate to severe, means if I worked for half a day I would end up being off work sick for a week whilst recovering.
Also I suffer with emotional dysregulation and very high anxiety therefore any pressure or stress of commitments and demands result in burnout.
Brain fog , along with the debilitating severe ADHD symptoms result in my instability to focus, concentrate, follow instructions or carry out even simple tasks reliably, repeatedly and safely, therefore I would struggle to hold down any form of employment without huge impact on my already deteriorating mental and physical health.
Anything else to tell us: I am currently in mental health crisis. I receive pip at enhanced daily living and standard mobility. My fear of losing this crucial benefit is not only worrying me sick and exacerbating my conditions but it is triggering my trauma as the proposed changes will strip me of any independence I have and will make me depend on the benefits system even more as I won’t be able to work anyway, even if I’m stripped of pip. So worrying genuine applicants or current recipients of this benefit is serving to worsen people’s mental wellbeing and as the provision of services in this area of health are already dire ( I’ve been waiting many years for trauma therapy) , more and more people will fall into crisis and undoubtedly there will be lives lost!
