Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: I struggle massively with washing and bathing. I have a short bath only once a week as I am unable to sit in the bath due to the pain of arthritis. We do not have a shower.
I struggle to get dressed and use aids and help from a family member to help with socks, shoes and underwear.
I am unable to stand for long to prepare or cook a meal, so rely heavily on pre-prepared meals, takeaways and a family member cooking for us.
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: £340 for me. My family member may also lose her PIP award, which is approx £450, which also means I would lose my carers allowance
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: I would find it incredibly difficult. Despite my own health issues I am also full time carer for a close family member.
The pain and fatigue I live with on a daily basis, would make working even part time, extremely difficult and would exacerbate my health issues.
My family member would 100% not be able to work due to her complex health conditions and disabilities. There is no-one to care for her, except me. I could not leave her unattended to work.
Anything else to tell us: The stress and worry this is causing us is causing more issues. More pain, more fatigue, difficulty sleeping.
No-one understands how difficult it is living with a chronic illness or disability, unless they live with it too.
The media stories are extremely invalidating and are turning many able bodied people against the disabled and chronically ill community.
