Nickname: Barkingmad
Age: 52
Main health condition: Physical health
Main conditions that affect daily living: Spinal stenosis & other disc conditions in all main areas of my spine, this causes electrical pains up and down my arms as well as constant aches day in day out. This is despite being on far too many painlillers. I also now have an undiagnosed condition in both hips which affetc my ability to stand & sends pulses of ain down my legs.
Rate of PIP daily living component: Standard
4 point descriptor score: No
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: I don't think i have any chance, mostly due to the way questions are asked
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: I am told to excercise so I take my small dog on a 20 mintue walk, which leaves me extremely tired & in pain, but I persevere. I also suffer issues with reaching & holding items due to extreme fatigue & pain in my arms and shoulders. I cannot sit for too long & have to move around, but equally cannot stand for too long either. I have to mix my days depending on how it is affecting me that day.
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: I will lose the daily living standard rate, as well as the WCA element of UC which will add up to around £700 per month.
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: I suffer extreme fatigue and tiredness due to the pain so I could not concentrate enough to complete any meaningful work. The physical symptoms would preclude me from sitting too long or standing too long either. If I could sit I couldn't type or answer the phone long term, due to the fatigue & pain in arms and shoulders. I would also suffer concentration issues from the medication.
Anything else to tell us: Prior to this I used to work 70+ hour weeks driving all over Europe with urgent aircraft spares & parts. Prior to that I repaired computers all day, but had to give that up early due to back issues bending over computers all day. Whilst I'm not a glutton for punishment working such long hours, I do miss the ability to be part of a productive life. I also have PSV & HGV licences & had just renewed my CPC prior to having had to give up work.
