Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: Washing myself, preparing meals, getting dressed, getting on and off the loo. Almost everything physical in all honesty! Nothing on its own is horrific but put all the problems together where my joints don’t work and there is very little I can do on my own. This includes when I use some of the aids and equipment available but even when I but pre-prepared food, I cannot usually cope without any help. It is embarrassing, humiliating and in all honesty, extremely depressing.
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: It works out around £400+ a month and I have no idea how I will cope. I am actually currently employed but about to lose my job as I have had too much time off ill. I am currently on sickness leave again as I cannot type, having horrendous headaches and body pain. My employer have been supportive but with all fairness, they cannot fulfil their business functions when I am not working. Sickness benefit does not cover my mortgage so I am desperately concerned as to what happens now and that is with PIP. What happens when then is taken off me and I still cannot work?
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: I do currently work (just) but I cannot wait to hear from all these businesses who are prepared to offer me work! I am regularly off sick with migraines among other things and some days, my hands just do not work enough for me to use the keyboard. How many employers can accommodate that situation in their place of work? If they are indeed in a financial position to offer work in the first place right now, they need people who can be relied upon. Even if I am functioning fairly well, I have numerous hospital, Dr appointments alongside blood tests, ulcer re dressings etc.
Anything else to tell us: Just as another aside, should this absurd policy offer bribes to encourage employers to take us on it would likely only result in temporary jobs so what incentive is there for employers? And, bearing in mind they want to defer the pension age AND then get youngsters into work as well, where are all these jobs coming from? The pensioners are not retiring for their jobs to become available, youngsters are fighting for every job going and the disabled who may be able to hold a job down, are realistically not in the best position to offer reliable employment if they can physically do it!
