Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: Showering, cooking, shopping. Even with a walk in shower I can't hold the soap to wash, due to severe arthritis in my hands. I also have severe arthritis in my spine so it's still not easy to get in the shower. When I get up I have to sit for at least one hour before I am able to get around. The kettle is too heavy, I can't chop things up, simple things like buttering bread is a nightmare. I am impacted in every single way. When I sit for too long I can't get up but if I sit for too long I am in chronic pain because of my spine. I am totally exhausted all day. Shopping is a no no as I can't carry heavy bags. I dont sleep well as anyone with arthritis will know how much more painful arthritis is during the night so I never feel rested. I am depressed cos of it, my hair is falling out and I have put weight on. |
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: £300. I would lose my council house and not have any money to pay bills. I need the heating on in cold weather and can barely afford it now. Taxi's are expensive if I have to do a big shop , I use more electric with being indoors. I'd become more depressed and feel worthless. I have brought 4 children up and worked all my life aswell. I will get my pension next year but if I defer to get a job then I'll be unreliable. |
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: People with disabilities just can't get up at 8 and get ready for work and do a full day. I did 3 days until 2 years ago but just couldn't carry on being on my feet all day and working with my hands. I had umpteen falls so had to take time off to the point where my employer let me go. I couldn't cope and neither could my boss. Who wants to employ someone who is unreliable and ill |
Anything else to tell us: I feel so sad for all the people this is going to effect. Why should money be put before people who really need help. Has anyone asked any of us how we feel and how worried we are. |
