Submission ID: 1163785

Nickname: Somerset peasant
Age: 71
Main health condition: Both physical and mental health
Main conditions that affect daily living: I suffer with the following:- Post operative Cauda Equina Syndrome. Arthritis of hips, wrists and knees. Acute COPD. Stenosis of the upper spine. Clinical Anxiety and depression.
By rights I should ask for a review as I'm going in for yet another MRI scan due to the pain around my lumbar region due to Cauda Equina Syndrome is now far, far worse, leaving me finding it very difficult to cook, clean and do general household tasks, I am also now in some peril as my sense of balance is now quite compromised and am experiencing falls and regular near falls.
Rate of PIP daily living component: Standard
4 point descriptor score: No
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: I don't know. I feel I should by rights however I fear I may be one of the unlucky ones that loose it all.
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: Every day starts with excruciating leg and foot cramps as I get out of bed, it then takes me 20 to 30 minutes to safely mobilise.
Once in a standing position I find that 5-10 minutes later I have to go and sit again as the lumbar pain becomes way too much to handle. Pretty much every activity is affected by this pain, cleaning, doing washing, generally just the minutiae of living involves acute pain.
Doing anything that may kick up dust starts my COPD causing me to have to struggle to clear my lungs and airways.
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: If I loose my PIP claim I would loose just over £400 per month. The effect would be devastating, causing me to have to get rid of my car which would mean loosing regular contact with my younger children, unable to attend mental health group sessions and pretty much anything meaningful
I live on my own and suffer greatly from solitude and loneliness.
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: I am retired and unable to work.
Anything else to tell us: If this bill goes through and the 4 point rule is applied, I really think it would be "Game Over" for me
