Rate of PIP daily living component: Standard
4 point descriptor score: No
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: Very Unlikely
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: Everything impacted to varying degrees but constantly - cleaning, cooking, standing for long time, bathing toileting sleeping Joints very unstable especially spine shoulders and feet , skin very fragile. Hands and wrists stiff, can't raise arms very high, walking ok for a bit but cant carry anything and my feet start to really hurt was told by physiotherapist I was lucky i was not in a wheel chair with EDS. I live on my own have no family support.
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: About £300 a month - I do not claim anything else. I have state pension ( sorry benefit must remember ) and one small private pension which is just enough to pay the council tax. I have worked all my life and only ever claimed working tax credit for 3 years. My income is very low. I will find it very hard to find the £ to buy things like the orthopaedic shoes (£250 a pair ) and podiatry insoles ( approx £60 a pair), cushioned socks ( Approx £24 a pair ) or all the clothing to accommodate my badly bent back, the food for my lactose intolerance and gluten sensitivity, special glasses, some private physio, occasional help around the house and garden, heating, and odd taxi to appointments, among other things. I think I will be very poor I find it all a daily struggle, especially as getting frailer, but I refuse to give in !The stress, anxiety and depression will increase - not to mention my long standing Ptsd symptoms - but not supposed to mention these.
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: No mention in Green Paper about older people on Pip. I am on light touch, but there is some confusion about my review date. Unless this proposed new criteria changes, I am expecting to loose my standard rate. Perhaps they want me to return to work..........
Anything else to tell us: It is terrible that we live in a society that puts the welfare of vulnerable people below economics We need more compassion and understanding . Of coursed I know that some people abuse the system, but this happens every where and always has and will. These proposed welfare changes will have far reaching affects for all involved - It is not being dealt with in a fair open way . How can making some ones life more difficult be moral ? It needs a serious rethink - Very disappointed with Labour, they wont be betting my vote a gain.
