Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: All aspects of daily living, I need help to apply creams to my legs twice a day and put on my compression socks and wraps, help to get dressed. Most days has to be a choice between prepping or cooking an evening meal, even then 8/10 times my daughter has to finish it. I can't shower unless someone is there to help me. Household chores that involve bending, lifting, standing for more than a few minutes are impossible. My daughter is a young carer for me and my absolute rock, without her help I don't know what I would do. She's not old enough to claim carers allowance. |
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: I stand to loose around £800 in cash. Then the additional costs of 19 regular prescription items a month and any extra acute prescriptions, dental and eye care, coming under the benefit cap, This would mean I couldn't afford the difference between LHA and my rent, heat my home (struggling with the price hikes) enough to prevent my conditions getting worse, affording the right food to help with my conditions, paying my daughter for her caring responsibilities as she doesn't have time to work PT as well as study and care for me. |
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: No one would employ me, my conditions make me unreliable as they fluctuate so much and I'm easily exhausted. I'm also a risk to myself and others as the more exhausted and stressed I am, the more absence seizures and severe hemiplegic migraines are triggered |
Anything else to tell us: This is all very worrying and causing immense stress, which is already impacting on my health. The Govt are hellbent on obscuring the truth of how much we are going to loose if they continue to push this "reform" through, how badly we will be affected, that there are NO employment opportunities for the hundreds of thousands sick and disabled people they are planning on forcing onto the job market. The bigger picture hasn't been considered either, the additional costs and service demands on the already struggling NHS, social care and other local authority services, which will result in the so called "savings" in the welfare budget just being shunted over to other department's budgets and most likely at a much greater amount than "saved" in welfare. This is ill-thought out and performative persecution of the most vulnerable in our society. |
