Nickname: Working with Parkinson’s |
Age: 52-57 |
Main health condition: Physical health |
Main conditions that affect daily living: Young onset Parkinson’s |
Rate of PIP daily living component: Standard |
4 point descriptor score: No |
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: Unlikely, I was given zero points & then awarded PIP after mandatory review |
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: Shopping, eating and preparing food safely, housework, dressing, washing., managing medication. Also fluctuating extreme fatigue, loss of balance, pain. Difficulty writing and finer motor tasks due to tremor in dominant hand. |
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: £3541 per year |
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: N/A |
Anything else to tell us: I already work full time and PIP helps with additional travel costs, additional therapy and assistance to help me stay well and stay in work. A work coach is of absolutely no use to me, I have a job but the loss of PIP would cause me problems with continuing in it. Parkinson’s is progressive and incurable and I know I will have to cut down and potentially stop work before my normal retirement age. I will have to give up work sooner if PIP is removed and therefore I will be economically inactive and a drain on taxes. |
