Nickname: Damoz |
Age: 63 |
Main health condition: Physical health |
Main conditions that affect daily living: Advanced Osteoarthritis Fibromyalgia Stoma user ( total colectomy) |
Rate of PIP daily living component: Standard |
4 point descriptor score: No |
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: I’m really not sure as the questions are so daunting |
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: Movement. Housework Cooking |
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: I would lose the entire daily living benefit which I rely on for affording the supplements I need daily which are unavailable on prescription and very expensive. Also vital treatments including acupuncture, osteopathy , massage. These are unavailable on the NHS and paid for privately at great expense. Without these I would suffer daily even more. |
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: I would let an employer down for sure as somedays it’s hard to get moving and I’m in too much pain to concentrate. I would have too much time off to be able to hold down a job. My conditions are unpredictable. |
Anything else to tell us: I dread the PIP assessments as I’ve never felt the person taking them is listening to what I am trying to say. I have felt rushed, harassed and even that I’m lying! I do not believe that these ‘ trained assessors’ know enough to be able to truly understand how it feels . I’ve felt they have put words into my mouth and are just ticking boxes to get rid of me. One woman caused me to burst into tears from frustration and was almost sighing and couldn’t have cared less. There’s no empathy or dignity being on PIP , but without it I have no idea how I’d cope. Shame on Labour. |
