Nickname: Neece |
Age: 69 |
Main health condition: Both physical and mental health |
Main conditions that affect daily living: Osteoarthritis Rheumatoid arthritis Anxiety Depression I'm autoimmune |
Rate of PIP daily living component: Standard |
4 point descriptor score: No |
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: It's possible as my arthritis has worsened and it affects my washing myselfmyself |
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: I struggle daily with walking, getting dressed, washing myself, getting up out of a chair. Preparing food, sitting down for too long. Going out by myself, carrying shopping. I can only walk a maximum of 50 metres. |
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: I will no longer receive Pip standard daily living allowance of £3850 per annum tax free. Also my Blue Badge for parking may be at risk, I rely on this. I would struggle to meet my additional costs as a disabled person, such as additional health treatments and aids, occasional taxis when I'm too unwell to drive. Paying for handyman, or gardener to help maintain my home, I am not capable. |
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: I'm 69 years old and retired from work. Do the government really expect me to try and find work? I've already worked in full time employment for 39 years! |
Anything else to tell us: I'm not sure the government appreciates that many recipients of Pip Standard Daily Living Allowance are: 1. Retired and no longer able to work and will be driven in to poverty. 2. In full time employment and this Pip payment is crucial for them to be able to afford to continue working. I believe anyone that scores the minimum 8 points, as per the Pip standard daily living allowance descriptors, should continue to receive this benefit as they meet the minimum requirements to benefit from this payment that helps them live a meaningful life. |
