Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: Washing, cannot shower or wash lower body. I need help washing my hair. Dressing, need help with lower body. Cooking, cannot stand long enough to cook. I need walking aids around the house. My legs are heavily bandaged, so I struggle to move around and I get through the day on opioid painkillers sleep apnea means I constantly nod off. If I try to do something like wash the floor, I crash afterwards for hours. I had to give up my TA job last year after 30 years working in a primary school. |
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: If I lose the daily pip and LCRW I’d lose nearly £700 a month, I wouldn’t be able to afford the extras I need, like walking aids, medical grade shoes ( these are about £90 each!) bandages, someone to help with jobs, taxis to the doctors ( I can’t drive on my painkillers) extra heating as I get very cold with fibromyalgia. |
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: I can only shuffle a few steps, and if I sit I have to keep standing up because of the arthritis. I’m in so much pain I cannot focus, I get brain fog, fibromyalgia affects my bladder, so that would be embarrassing. I’m in constant pain, I’m on enhanced mobility but only standard daily. |
