Nickname: Jo |
Age: 67 |
Main health condition: Both physical and mental health |
Main conditions that affect daily living: Severe eosinophilic asthma Osteoporosis with spinal fractures Severe back pain reducing mobility but also ability to stand for more than a couple of minutes and to complete normal daily activities. |
Rate of PIP daily living component: Standard |
4 point descriptor score: No |
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: Unlikely as I live alone |
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: Dressing, bathing, toileting, housework, putting bins out, washing dishes, hanging washing out, carrying shopping in after delivery. Mental health since shielding in the pandemic means I find it difficult to leave the house although my assistance dog helps with this and anxiety. |
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: Standard daily living Pension Credit severe disability top up. My income will reduce hugely and I will struggle to afford essentials. |
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: I am retired in addition to being disabled. This is a situation I have yet to see the government address. Will they change this 4 points requirement for pensioners on PIP or just force us into poverty? I've asked my MP (Liz Twist) who made sympathetic noises in person but sent me a standard Government supporting reply on email. No answers about pensioners and PIP. |
