Nickname: Nash |
Age: 51 |
Main health condition: Both physical and mental health |
Main conditions that affect daily living: Fibromyalgia (chronic daily widespread pain etc), depression, anxiety, agoraphobia, CPTSD, SAD, swallowing issues, IBS, chronic daily headaches, balance problems, lower back problems, TMJ disorder and other conditions. |
Rate of PIP daily living component: Enhanced |
4 point descriptor score: No |
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: If I'm assessed properly, yes, otherwise no because the HCP's don't seem to listen and appear to think they know better than the person that they are assessing. |
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: Everything, cooking, eating/swallowing/drinking, washing/bathing, toilet, dressing, engaging/mixing with people (I avoid it and only speak to my son 99% of the time), walking, managing meds, banking, reading, most things. |
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: I am not sure. |
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: I wouldn't be able to move into work at all, not even with support from a work coach, I don't speak to anyone other than my son a majority of the time, I very rarely leave my home and need help with most day to day tasks, trying to push me into work would cause my mental and physical health to become worse and would cause a substantial risk to my health, I already have suicidal thoughts, this won't help one bit. I have tried various treatments but nothing has helped and I have tried different jobs but working made my health worse. |
Anything else to tell us: The government really seem to have no thought about the point system and how it will affect not just disabled people but their carers also, they want to reduce unemployment but this will cause more unemployment. There aren't enough jobs as it is and there certainly aren't enough for those with disabilities. This will not change behaviours as Keir Starmer as oddly stated, it's not going to suddenly cure people. If they want to get people back into work then they should focus on those who are already on unemployment benefits and help them to acquire jobs first and then move onto those who are disabled and can manage to work or want to work. With regards to assessments, part of the problem is, assessors seem to not know about various health conditions are assessing people with mental health conditions for example and they then either tell lies or because they don't understand the persons condition(s) incorrectly assume things. Either way, the current companies that are used for assessments aren't fit for purpose, there needs to be proper medically trained people doing these assessments that know about various conditions both mental and physical, part of the cost is people having to appeal decisions because the DWP are going off what the assessor is saying because they don't even have any medical training. I've appealed ESA x 2 and PIP x 1, ESA was overturned both times and PIP was overturned by the DWP without the need for a tribunal. There were a lot of mistakes made when I had my PIP review in 2019 by both DWP and Capita. |
