Nickname: KelC |
Age: 43 |
Main health condition: Physical health |
Main conditions that affect daily living: Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome |
Rate of PIP daily living component: Standard |
4 point descriptor score: No |
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: Unlikely - my needs have not changed since PIP was awarded. |
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: All daily tasks are difficult for me and having the PIP has given me a much better quality of life. I have aids that I use in the bathroom (for both showering and using the toilet), aids to help with food prep and to help me dress. Each of these gives me 2 points. |
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: I will lose the daily living component which is a loss of £73.90 per week. I use the PIP for taxi's when I cannot drive or walk to the bus stop. The mobility component alone is not enough to cover this. I also now pay for a gardener, a cleaner and someone to do my ironing - which I would have to stop if I lose the PIP |
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: I already work and my understanding is that PIP is for daily living and mobility difficulties - and other benefits (such as ESA and Universal Credit) are for those who are unable to work due to ill health. So stopping my PIP will not force me back into work, but it will dramatically effect my quality of life (and in turn the quality of life for my child). |
