Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: Everything. Dressing, preparing food, washing myself, cleaning my home, moving about in the home |
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: Around £500 a month. I use a ready meal food delivery service and I wouldn’t be able to afford it. I use one that has healthier, more balanced meals as it important to get the best nutrition to help yourself. I have to use a tumble dryer every time as I struggle hanging laundry. I need to keep warm in the colder months and cooler in the summer months as temperature control is something I struggle with. All of these use a lot of energy and the prices are rising. There is the possibility that I won’t be able to afford to live in my home of 21 years due to increased costs and loss of benefits. If that happened I’d then lose irESA (I’m currently on the forced migration to UC which is a whole other nightmare) due to the sale of my home and all that I’d put into my home would be spent on rent which would be much much more than my mortgage. I can’t downsize due to being in the smallest property there is already. The effect this has on my mental health will be immense. The one thing I have left is my independence, and I only have that as I get PIP. I didn’t ask to get sick, I wish I wasn’t. I worked in the NHS until I was too sick to continue. I’m in a ‘better’ situation than some, but it is tough for all of us in so many different ways. |
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: I’m too sick to work. |
Anything else to tell us: What really annoys me is that it takes weeks to fill in the PIP form and you explain exactly what help you need and the reasons why you can’t do an activity and then somebody in an office decides that you can, or you can do it better than you have explained! I should get 8 for preparing a meal as I cannot do it and I rely on ready meals and cereal, but the last application I scored 2 points. |
