Nickname: Nanny in waiting
Age: 57
Main health condition: Both physical and mental health
Main conditions that affect daily living: Inflammatory arthritis and depression
Rate of PIP daily living component: Standard
4 point descriptor score: No
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: Very unlikely
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: Chronic fatigue is the main issue but I enjoy working 18 hours per week and want to continue to do so. I live alone and I already struggle to complete household tasks like cleaning, laundry, cooking, gardening, etc. I pay a cleaner to do the most strenuous housework for 2 hours a fortnight currently. I often use ready meals as my manual dexterity is also deteriorating along with extreme lack of energy. I struggle to shower and wash my hair already. If I have to work additional hours to make up for my loss of PIP, I will have even less energy. It will become a vicious downward spiralling situation where my health will suffer and my relationships will be adversely affected. This will have a knockon detrimental effect on my long term depression.
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: Around £300 per month. I would have to work additional hours to keep up with existing financial commitments.
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: Not applicable
Anything else to tell us: I already work and I need to continue to do so as when I was furloughed during lockdown my mental health deteriorated significantly. I would struggle to work the additional hours required to replace my lost PIP. My Universal Credit would also be decreased by 55p for every additional £1 of earned income so that would be sn added loss of income.
