Nickname: Mark
Age: 40-50
Main health condition: Both physical and mental health
Main conditions that affect daily living: Manic Depression and alcoholism
Rate of PIP daily living component: Enhanced
4 point descriptor score: No
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: Not sure
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: I struggle most days with cooking, getting dressed, getting out of bed, leaving deposits in the bed I have to sleep in different bed from wife, difficulty to walk and communicate with other people I don't know. I can be irritable and irrational and get angry
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: I will lose my notability car and and enhanced pip and health related benefits around 10.000 per year not really sure on the exact amount. I will be forced into poverty and my illness doesn't make it viable for me to work
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: I want to work and I'm not getting any younger maybe the work coach can support me with my best interests at heart and find a suitable forfilling role and not threaten to sanction me if I don't meet their expectations and I don't always attend appointments, I can always catch up by email or texting when I am not in a stupor
Anything else to tell us: Personally I think a lot of older people will be punished severely by these cuts and not being able to forfil the 4 point descriptors that may also effect myself as well. However I always imagined disability meant for individuals that can not work due to physical impairment as well as handicapped people etc and conditions that are life threatening. I also think that assessors really need to do their homework on individuals with the amount of time it takes to process someone's claim there is no doubt they can explore all avenues ensuring that people are genuine, including asking of any services involved, contacting their GP personally to seek and understand greater clarity of the individual seeking disability benefits. These welfare cuts are ill thought out and it seems will create more problems and issues and strain on the NHS than to maintain the support that genuine claimants need to have some form of a decent life
