Nickname: Anonymous |
Age: 60 |
Main health condition: Physical health |
Main conditions that affect daily living: Lumbar spine fusion & pain IBS SUNCT Syndrome |
Rate of PIP daily living component: Standard |
4 point descriptor score: No |
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: Nil |
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: Need assistance in & out of bath and to wash my lower body and some upper areas. Need help with toilet activities Need help dressing |
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: I am unable to work due to my disabilities and I am unable to claim any work related benefits as I receive a pension. Losing the standard rate of daily living will now impact my ability to get about and have a severe impact on being able to pay my bills. |
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: My spinal conditions make it extremely difficult to sit or stand for periods of more than 10 minutes. My SUNCT syndrome causes extreme head pain and blurred vision. I am unable to concentrate I have to lay down to relieve pain and would find it extremely difficult to get to a work location |
Anything else to tell us: I have always explained on my PIP form of the issues I have and assistance I need from my wife with washing, dressing and toilet needs but have never scored above 2 points in the relevant descriptors. I have never asked for an MR or appeal for fear of even losing standard rate daily living during the process. The assessment process is the most undignified experience I have ever encountered and you are made to feel you are a fake and a burden on society. |
