No, children in England, Wales or Northern Ireland who are receiving DLA will continue to do so.  When they are approaching their 16th birthday, the DWP will write to them and invite them to make a claim for PIP.   It is very important to make the claim by the date given in the letter so that DLA can continue until the PIP claim is decided.

In Scotland, a child who is already receiving DLA can continue to receive it until they turn 18.  New claims for DLA for children can no longer be made in Scotland – new claimants would instead claim Child Disability Payment (CDP).  If a child who has been living in another part of the UK and receiving DLA moves to Scotland, they should be automatically moved to CDP without having to make a claim.

When a child in Scotland is approaching their 18th birthday, they will be contacted and invited to claim Adult Disability Payment (ADP).  They can make a claim for SDP any time from 13 weeks before turning 16 if this would be more beneficial for them than remaining on DLA/CDP.
