An article in the Guardian suggests that, in spite of government promises, there will be little voluntary sector involvement in the Work Programme. Some large agencies are refusing to participate as subcontractors because of the poor payments on offer from the big private contractors, smaller agencies are not being considered for subcontracts at all.
Some voluntary sector agencies are reducing the size of their employment teams in anticipation of funding drying up.
It all suggests that there will be less help available for those most in need, while prime contractors cherry pick the easiest to help clients.
