Benefits and Work is receiving numerous emails and comments from claimants whose PIP payment has failed to go into their bank account today.

“I woke this morning my money did go in my bank 1st time ever since 2016 , I am trying to call them since 9 am machine comes on as I think I will go through to someone it just cuts off ridiculous.”

“Trying to call due to missing a payment and I get through to the options, once selected I get cut off or a dial tone. I've attempted about 8 times currently.”

“My payment never went into my bank. Tried a number of times without success. After several attempts a auto message stated that "some claimants (which probably means thousands)have not received their payments today and they are investigating". Hope they sort it out soon.”

It appears that there has been some sort of software issue and it is unlikely at this stage that phoning the PIP enquiry line is going to make any difference.

We’ll post updates on this page when we hear anything more and, if anyone whose payment didn’t go in as expected does subsequently receive it, please post a comment below.

UPDATE TUESDAY 6 DECEMBER
Still no official announcement from the DWP about what has gone wrong and whether the problem has now been fixed.  But we are hearing from people whose payments have now been made, so it's probably worth phoning the PIP enquiry line if yours hasn't - assuming you can ever get through.

Mine was meant to come in the 30th November. As of now bugger all. Cannot through on the phone, you sit there listening to hideous tune til your climbing the walls with deranged stress. Getting through to dwp is harder than getting through to Elvis.

Whilst not wanting to come across as being insensitive, I live in London and it seems my PIP payment due today, (Thursday) was unaffected by this glitch.

There is no rational reason for the DWP to fobb anybody off with a claim that this is a whole England problem, bearing in mind that it takes three days, from the DWP to the bank account, thus my PIP payment was signed off on Tuesday.

I truly hope that those late payments are resolved as quickly as possible.

now I am worrying cause mine is due tomorrow and I have a Hospital appointment and if I cannot attend I will be discharged. I need my payment to help with my travel costs and its not a local hospital. this is awful whats happening to the disabled. I am hoping that this isn't due to them having no money to pay us our pip and using an excuse cause it should not take this long for a payment to be issued. somebody mentioned its certain banks but which ones are having issues. Its not our fault that this has happened its theirs so to say they are not going to help with cost incurred due to others missing direct debits etc is very unfair. I also have read that they have been or going on strike so that will be fun I just do not trust them its time they went and we had a general election. fingers crossed mine is paid tomorrow . I'm not sure if these payments that have still not been paid are in a backlog or are actually due today it says on line on certain news feeds that they've paid them all now . But to read that payments have still not been paid is a great concern I am also due to ay my carer tomorrow as well.

Sorry to hear people are worried but the PIP shouldn’t be used to support bill or credit card debt- it’s tu help us work through the barriers we face eg can’t walk, get a taxi, can’t move around to clean get a carer etc. I do respect people are struggling but being reliant to pay bills with pip is not helpful

@Bell Unfortunately, the grim fact is that people *are* now having to use PIP to pay their bills, largely thanks to a cost of living crisis exacerbated by a financially-incompetent tory government wilfully trashing the economy barely a month ago, so it's equally unhelpful to admonish people for doing what they have to do to survive now.

@Bell My PIP is because of dyspraxia,  Aspergers and severe anxiety, without it I am housebound as I have to use a taxi to go to the doctors or pick medication up, the ESA will not cover that or paying for my support worker who helps me with stuff i can't do. Can't afford the heating so the condensation is making the house damp.

@Bell Part of the reason I get PIP is that I am at risk of hypothermia as I am unable to regulate my body temperature, so are you saying I shouldn't use it to pay the gas bill? Many disabled people have higher bills because of their disability, which is surely what PIP is intended to help with?

@Bell I forgot to say my PIP also pays some of my private paid domestic assistances costs every week of over £100.

My PIP should have gone in today (Wednesday 7th December) but it hasn't arrived. Tried phoning them but I get all through the options and then it cuts me off. I did get through to a message that all the advisors were busy, please hold then they cut me off.  I'm worried that bill payments will bounce now which will incur charges from my bank.

My daughter didn’t receive her PIP either until 5pm on Monday, her direct debits that were going out that day were sent as unpaid as the bank have a deadline(Halifax), this will now go against her credit rating etc, etc. This is a complete shambles. Her anxiety is through the roof, she has been sick several times & is scared this may happen next time her payments due again.!

Politicians work for US that is given FACT. We are their BOSSES... therefore the Gov MUST take steps to clamp down on the DWP and bring them into line now by taking a hardline approach and stop pussyfooting around the DWP. STOP allowing their arrogance to rule.
disregard for customer complaints and Theresa Coffey's attitude during her tenure at the Helm of the DWP, regarding the publishing of reports and documents that were requested through official Enquiry and her refusal to cooperate...

These examples are why it's of paramount importance that the entire DWP needs a tighter reign from the top, down, to ensure they offer a smooth running operation with a first class Customer service, which takes into account the mental health and wellbeing of thousands of claimants too and STOP with the alienation of many Claimants.

It's also widely known that when making PIP assessments, it is quite literally down to the individual assessor's mood that day as to whether or not claims go through or not and what pressure is being applied by the Managers at the time...this is information I received first hand from someone who worked for the DWP for over 22 yrs, but resigned because she didn't like the path the DWP were on and now helps those to navigate the DWP application processes and red tape.
