A “People’s Petition” calling on the government to stop and review the cuts to benefits and services because they are falling disproportionately on disabled people, their carer’s and families now has 24,000 signatures. For the petition to be considered for debate in Parliament another 76,000 signatures are required.
The petition has been put together by a small group of disabled people and their carers who have volunteered their time and commitment to draw attention to the way disabled people and their carer’s are being treated. The petition is an opportunity to voice concerns about the way disabled people have been marginalised and ignored by the present government.
The group are urgently trying to reach 100,000 signatures on the petition so that it can be considered for debate in Parliament before the Welfare Reform Bill is passed. Pat's petition can be found here.
If you can offer your help the group can be contacted at admin@carerwatch.com
You can also consider contacting charities you may be involved with to request the charity helps to get signatures for the petition.
