March for the alternative, 26 March
The TUC march against the cuts on 26 March looks like being one of the biggest demonstrations the country has seen in many years.

Over 600 coaches heading for the march from all over the UK have registered with the TUC, many more will not have done so.  Some of these coaches have spaces on them.  You can find out if there’s a place on a coach near you from the False Economy website.

The TUC are arranging three different assembly points for people with limited mobility.

There will be a static demonstration point near the entrance to Hyde Park, with some parking and accessible toilets nearby.  But you need to register by March 18th.

There will also be an assembly point at Victoria Embankment for people in wheelchairs who wish to join the march in a group near the front.

There will also be short march assembly point in St James St, off Piccadilly.

More information about all these options is available at the March for the Alternative website.

Disabled People Against cuts are working on an online map for people who cannot make it to the march on 26th.  More details about how you can take part from the DPAC website.

Disabled people’s protest 11 May
A new website The Hardest Hit has been set up to fight the cuts to disability benefits.  Although it’s not entirely clear from the site, it appears to be being run by the Disability Benefits Consortium and features the logos of many national disability charities..

The site is urging people to post their own messages and videos about how the cuts will affect them.

They are also organising a protest by disabled people outside parliament on 11 May, although there are few details available as yet.
