One of our current forum moderators, Catherine, is having to greatly reduce her time on the forum because of increased work commitments. We're enormously grateful to Catherine for the huge amount of gentle and extremely knowledgeable support she has given to members and we’ll be sad to see her – gradually – disappear. But as a result we are now recruiting for new moderators.

Catherine told us:

“I have loved (and am loving) the experience of being a mod on the B & W forum.

“It started off with a very reassuring email that I did not have to try answer any questions I did not feel confident to tackle! The mods are a team, we each have our own strengths and it is always okay to admit ignorance. You can answer posts wherever you have internet access whenever you have the opportunity.

“I feel passionately that going through the PIP or Capability for Work process is not something which anyone should have to do alone.

“The guides on this site are an amazing resource, but being a mod is an opportunity to hold someone’s a hand for a moment and to give extra support to people trying to find their way through this particular maze.”

If you are interested in joining the team, you need to be available, health permitting, to regularly answer posts on the forum.

You’ll get full access to our PIP online training, email support from a wou need to be a current subscribelfare rights worker to help you with any benefits issues you are struggling to understand and access to our private moderators forum where you can share information and ideas and get support.

You don’t need any experience of moderating on a forum, we’ll provide you with written guidance and a gentle introduction to answering posts.

If you’re interested in being considered, please contact us with Volunteer moderators in the subject line. Tell us a bit about why you’d like to be a moderator, what knowledge of benefits you have and what availability you have to help out and we’ll get back to you.
