Like many others on here I have used fullfact.org to report stories in the media about disability benefits that are inaccurate. Now we have a chance to make a real difference.
Full Fact are to be one of the keynote speakers at the Leveson Press Inquiry this week.
Director Will Moy will be giving ‘the user’s view’ of the Press Complaints Commission, on Wednesday.
In reply to a complaint, I have had a reply from Full Fact. They have asked for other disabled people to contact the Inquiry with their experiences of how inaccurate media reporting has affected their lives or their experiences of complaining to the PCC , or if you’ve been put off complaining in the past for any reason. They want to make the point that inaccurate media articles have severe repercussions for the disabled.
I raised the issue of inaccurate press reports leading to an increase in hate crime attacks on the disabled. So if you have any personal experience of this or an opinion on media reporting of benefit issues please contact the Leveson Inquiry at: rachel.clark@levesoninquiry.gsi.gov.uk
Or Full Fact themselves at: team@fullfact.org
