    Hi,

I get the standard daily living but enhanced rate of PIP. I am also entitled to LCWRA payments due to the fact I cannot physically work at all.

I’ve recently heard about ‘transitional protection’ when I ceased working and moved to UC, but never received this payment? Should I have?

Also, I was advised that I should be entitled to additional payments for a disability premium, but again I’ve not received this from UC?

I’m very new to all this as it’s the first time I’ve ever been unable to work and had to make a claim. Please could I ask for some guidance.

    Thank you all.

@Ellis Yes you are entitled to both. I get both and I work part time from home. You can still get the enhanced rate of UC even if you work, so you are definitely entitled to it. Just inform them about it as they are two different departments.

@Ellis It's not for when you cease working, it's for when you move from legacy benefits to UC.

How difficult is it to calculate a 6.7% increase in the enhanced rate daily living component of PIP? I make it £108.57, but the government says its only £108.55. Are they using "alternative maths"? OK... so the difference is only 2p a week. but that is £1.04 a year and will have a knock on effect every year after that.

@Rosie Well spotted, I never clocked that. It will be to do with the age of the computer system that processes the payments. AA, CA, DLA, ESA & PIP are older benefits. UC is the newest benefit with a brand new computer system and pays in single pence increments. I wonder if that is to do with the fact UC payments can fluctuate with a claimants wages if they work and it has to be more precise a monetary payment? Your MP might answer any queries...

@Dave They won’t change it as it would mean reprogramming their computers & transferring Universal Credit has cost enough

@Dave I'm not trying to prove you right or wrong; I just want to understand how the DWP can apply different rules to different benefits and get away with it. I am going to ask my MP to find out.
