Atos lawyers take down another site
Lawyers acting for Atos have forced the closure of another website criticising the standard of the medicals carried out by Atos doctors for the department of work and pensions.
The ‘Atos Register of Sh***’ website was collecting testimonials from claimants who were unhappy about the way their work capability assessment was carried out. However Amazon.com, the hosts of the website, received a letter from Atos solicitors asserting that the name of the website was “ a direct attack on Atos” and “in and of itself” libelous and demanding that the site be removed.
Amazon complied with the instruction from Atos. The owner of the site has, however, vowed to continue his fight by starting up another website.
In June, the ‘After Atos’ website, which was carrying out a survey of claimants who had undergone a work capability assessment, closed down following receipt of a ‘cease and desist’ notice from Atos lawyers.
