A disabled claimant has forced Atos to record her work capability assessment (WCA), but only after collecting over 1,000 signatures on the www.change.org website.
Jayne Linney was refused a recording of her WCA in Leicester by Atos on the grounds that all the recording machines were broken. However, Jayne refused to back down and posted about her problems with Atos on her personal blog, as well as on Facebook and Twitter. After launching an online petition, Jayne got over 1,000 signatures in support of her campaign to have her medical recorded and suddenly Atos were able to provide a working recorder.
When employment minister Chris Grayling claimed that anyone who asked could have their medical recorded, he didn’t mention that you have to get 1,000 other people to also ask on your behalf.
