Congratulations on getting into the support group.
It's entirely up to you whether you ask for a copy. It will give you useful information about why you were placed in the support group and when you are likely to be assessed again, but there's certainly no necessity to do so.

Hi, I recently applied for esa and have been put in the suport group, Should i still request a copy of the report done by Atos?

Hi teresa,
As Steve said the report would contain useful information, such as how and why you were put in the support group, and how long your prognosis is. (expected review date)
If you didn,t have a medical assessment the report is called an ESA85A, I think you can also request an ESA86, Written statement of reasons.
Unfortunately we are seeing that just because a claimant is put in one particular group on their first assessment it does not always follow that they will be put into the same group in future assessments.
So these reports will give you information that may be useful in the future, there can certainly be nothing adverse in requesting them.
So it's up to you, though knowledge is empowering.
Just as a matter of interest, was this a fresh claim by you, and did you have to fill in an ESA50 questionaire.
cheers

Teresa, by the way did you actually have a face to face assessment with an ATOS assessor, either at home or by travelling to an ATOS assessment centre.
If you did it's an ESA85, that you request, I'm not quite sure from your post as to the actual process that you went through.
cheers again

@ bro58: I attended a medical assessment at an ATOS health centre that lasted for about an hour- so I'm guessing that is a face to face assessment as it was one on one with an assessor.
Also, yes it was a fresh claim and I did fill out a ESA50 questionnaire (the new one).

OK, so it's an ESA85 (ATOS HCP Report) and ESA86 (Written statement of reasons) that you request, if you choose to.
Well done on getting in support group.
