Although the proposed change is patently unfair to those who've paid in, and totally at odds with the government's responsibility rhetoric, I can't see them dropping it as it saves the government so much money. We're talking billions a year eventually.
I also think Labour would have done the same at some point. As soon as I heard about the two levels of ESA when ESA was lauinched I assumed the long term aim was to get rid of people in WRAG off contributory payments. But I think Labour wold have restricted it to new claminants only.
Well said, Callisto - totally agree. The only hope, I think is if you get into the support group. Work hard and pay your tax and N.I and try to save a bit if you can for the future and where does it get you!
