Hello
I am being transferred from Incapacity Benefit to ESA and have to go to a medical. I dont have anyone to take with me. I suffer very badly from depression and dont see people, also the day centre I was going to has closed, so I feel very isolated with this.
When I went to my last Incapacity medical, I asked the receptionist if someone could come into the medical with me, and a lady member of staff did.
Can I ask for this at an ESA medical?

Yes, you can ask for it, although if they don't agree, you may find yourself debating the point with them. I'd argue that it's a reasonable adjustment under the Equalities Act, but they may think differently.
Is there any local mental health advocacy charity or unit, or a disability advocacy charity?

You can ask, but I feel it is unlikely that anybody from the ATOS Medical Centre will be available.
Do you have any relatives who live near you?
Is there anybody at your local council that you have contact with, they might not be able to do it themselves, but may be able to put you in touch with someone who can.
Do you see a nurse of consultant? Perhaps they can help, are there amy volunteer organisations in yor area?

I strongly advise you to make as much effort as you can to get someone to go with you as a "supporter"', someone who's on your side and wanting the best outcome for you . (Lots of suggestions in previous posts as to where to look.)

Most local Mind organisations provide advocacy services, where someone can attend a medical assessment with a claimant if required?
