Can you help with info.

My wife has breast cancer - she has had chemo and an op and will be starting radio soon.
She is getting esa at asessment rate £67.50 per week.

She has just received the eas50 and from what i can see none of discripters fit her.

She can do all those things ok so as far as i can see she will get 0 points.

She has a full time job ready for her to go back to when she is ready.

Will they force her onto jsa.
It all seems so crazy.

Hi,

We cannot give individual advice on claims as we do not have access to case papers etc. We can only explain how the system should work.

In order for your wifes claim to continue she will need to have completed the ESA50. I do know if a claimant is receiving certain forms of Chemotherapy they maybe put into the Support Group or Work Related Group without having to attend a medical. I am not sure to be honest if Radiotherapy may fall into this catergory though.

I think really the best advice would be to obtain some face to face help from a Welfare Rights Agency, Cab, Law Centre etc who can go through matters in depth with your wife and determine which, if any, descriptors can be utilised to fit in with your wifes condition and also to help with completing the ESA50 to highlight how your wifes condition does fall within certain descriptors.

Pete

she is doing well but i suspect the side affects will catch up with her, its not un common not to feel ill till later on into cancer treatment

affects she can expect but might not get are

Loss of appetite
Nausea and vomiting
Weakness and fatigue
Mouth soreness
Hair loss
Weight gain
Premature menopause
Lowered resistance to infections

the chemo could in her case make her hands and feet numb too

she should get ESA becasue of this question

You are receiving, or recovering from receiving, intravenous, intraperitoneal or intrathecal chemotherapy or you are likely to receive such treatment in the next six months.

which i think comes under
exemptions, exceptional circumstances and treatment in relation to the work-related activity group and the support group.

My wife saw the cancer doc today and said he would have a look at the form and would help fill it in so as to put the right thing.

He had never heard of the esa 50 or whats in it so the poor man does not know what will hit him when he reads it.
