I am having my medical done at home has anyone else had this and does anyone know what happens at a home medical?

Hi, I recently had a home medical done. The form they complete is the same one that you can download from this site.
It was an ATOS doctor who came and I think somewhat understandably I was both sceptical and a little hostile when he showed up.
He started by introducing himself and outlayed his years of medical experience. I think for me it helped that he was totally au fait with my disabling conditions and he asked a LOT and I do mean a lot of questions, he was at my home for 1 1/2 hours. I suffer fibromyalgia so this was a very long time for me.
After introducing himself he then went on a guided tour of my home with my friend. He noted down all the additions and help devices I have around the home, he missed nothing.
He then proceeded through the form asking similar questions in a variety of ways I think trying to catch me out. Eventually he examined me briefly though he abandoned the physical examination half way through as he said he was inflicting too much pain on me. It did feel like torture I have to admit. He had me stand up (with help) and I managed 2 steps before I had to sit back down again.
I have to confess that when I described things to him he seemed to understand exactly what I was saying and I was grateful he listened to me and to my friend and to my Welfare Advice worker who was also present.
I have now received my report and to be honest it couldnt have been better if Id have written it myself. I know many people have very bad experiences with medical reports, and I too have had a previous medical report that bore no relation to me at all. But it does go to show that there are some honest doctors working for ATOS.
I covertly recorded my medical having taken advice on here that they couldnt stop me doing so in my own home.

Hi,i had a home medical in March,the doctor from Atos,was from the start,un friendly and hardly spoke at all.He was aksed if he would like to look around my home to see aids and adaptions i have fitted,he declined this offer.
during the medical he raised his voice to me when i had trouble understanding his question.
since the medical my DLA has been stopped,i am now awaiting a copy of his report and making an appeal.

Hi Jackie, I had home visit for DLA, the doctor was very nice and was only at my home for about 20 minutes. showed him my hospital letters and he seemed to know my Consultant from local hospital, ask a few questions and ask to see me walk, how I climb stairs and a few excercises and then said I wil get this sent asap.All in all a easy examination. I did get my DLA. Hope all goes well for you. Bubsx
