IB Migration & loss of Premiums?? was created by leapoffaith
Hi everyone...
I currently receive Incapacity Benefit (IB) + Severe Disability Premium (SDP) + this is topped up by Income Support (IS)... My review date was stated to me on the phone as 'recommended 5 yrs' (but on paper it only says I am exempt..no 5 yrs stated)...
I also receive DLA High Care & Low Mobility...
I fall into so many categories I don't expect the review date to stand for anything & so I am in terrified limbo & need say no more to express the fall out...
My questions are:
1)If I am forced into the WRAG & then appeal to be put in the Support Group (knowing risks of appeal) will I keep my premiums & income support etc. whilst I appeal & if my appeal fails would I then Have to pay it all back??
2)I moved to nuneaton 15 months ago after my former landlady sold her house... suffice to say it has been disastrous especially in light of all the benefit changes... I am alone & have relapsed & desperately need to get back to my familiar neighbourhood... 2 friends are in the process of buying a small flat for me which they will sell in approx 15 yrs when we are 65... I should be over the moon!!... but instead I am very low & afraid... this is my only chance of getting back to birmingham because of new rent costs... also it is a harder place to live & claim etc. but I was there for 30 yrs & am so alone here even though it's pretty & quiet...
My question is asking for opinions really... I am terrified that if I move the 'change of circumstances' will prompt my migration process whereas if I stay here I may stay under the radar for longer...
I have also just successfully been upgraded to 2 bedroom rate Housing Benefit & all it took was quick phone call...claiming has been easy here & people are old fashioned understanding whereas Birmingham is hard & is under massive stress now...should I go home & face the hell of migration now or stay here housebound & disapearring???
I'm really sorry this is so long but any views may help my screwed up head...
best wishes to all...

With regard to your appealing, you would continue to receive ESA payments at the WRAG rate. If you lost your appeal, you would stay in the WRAG and would not be required to make any repayments.

You are entitled to these benefits while you are in the WRAG, appealing would not change this.

Assuming that your entitlement to DLA does not change, when you are migrated to ESA your disability premiums will be made up by the "income related ESA" which replaces income support.
The difference in payment between WRAG and Support groups is roughly £5 a week.
When you are migarted from IB to ESA the income support payment are incorperated into a single weekly ESA payment.

Hi Gordon.. thanks very much... does this mean that as long as I'm put in the WRAG they can't take my premiums & IS until either universal credit comes in or reassessed for my DLA when they may force me into a lower group???
